St. Moritz Match Race 31.08. - 05.09.10 Notice of Race 1.2

1 ORGANISING AUTHORITY

2 VENUE

The venue will be the Lake St. Moritz in Switzerland.

 

3 EVENT GRADING

 

The event has applied for ISAF Grade W.

This grading is subject to review by the ISAF Match Race Ranking Sub Committee. The event may be re-graded when there is clear reason to do so.

 

4 PROVISIONAL PROGRAMME

4.1  (a)  Race office opens on the 31.08.10 at 10.00.

       (b)  Registration on the 31.08.18  from 10.00 until 15.00.

 (c)  Crew weighing on the 31.08.10 from 10.00 until 15.00.

       (d)  Practice will be on the 31.08.10 from 11.00 until 14.00 and 14.00 until 17.00.  

             Please register in advance for your time of practice. Time schedule will be made

             by Christian Scherrer according to the time we receive your wishes via Email.

       (e) First briefing and meeting with the umpires on the 31.08.10 at 19.00 following the

             opening ceremony.

       (f)  Racing days are from the 01. to the 05.09.10.

       (g)  A morning meeting will be held on each racing day at 10.00.

       (h)  Time of the attention signal for the first race each racing day will be at 11.00.

       (i)   Daily press conference 20 minutes after the last race of each day.

    (j)  The ‘Corviglia Challenge’ a guest and sponsor regatta will be held on the  

          03.09.10. All skippers shall participate with one crew and two guests. Detailed

          schedule to be announced.

       (k)  Prize giving on the 05.09.10 after the final match (approximately at 16.30).

 

4.2   Unless excused by the OA, attendance at the following is mandatory:

       (a)  Initial briefing for skippers.

       (b)  Daily briefing, for skippers.

       (c)  Daily press conferences, for skippers sailing that day.

    (d)  Guest and sponsor regatta “Corviglia Challenge”

       (e)  Regatta dinner, for skippers and crews.

    (f)  Prize giving for the final skippers and crews.

5  SKIPPERS ELIGIBILITY

       (a) 12 skippers will be invited. Only skippers invited by the OA or the Tour will be

eligible to enter this event. 1 invited skipper has qualified through the World Match Racing Tour Qualifiers Series at the Volvo Match Race 2010 in Zug, Switzerland. 1 other invited skipper through the World Match Racing Tour Qualifiers Series at the Open Espana in Calpe, Spain 2010. The World Tour Invite Policy will apply.

 

    (b)  The registered skipper shall helm the boat at all times while racing, except in an

          emergency.

    (c)  To remain eligible a skipper shall confirm acceptance of invitation in writing,

          (e-mail is acceptable) to be received by the date specified on the letter of  

          invitation.

    (d)  All competitors shall meet the eligibility requirements of ISAF Regulation 19.2.

    (e)  All competitors shall obtain an ISAF Sailor ID by registering online at

          www.sailing.org/isafsailor. Skippers shall inform the OA of their ISAF Sailor ID at

          registration.

 

6  ENTRIES

6.1  The skipper shall be entered on completion of registration, crew weighing and the

       payment of all fees and deposits. All payments shall be made by credit card or local

       currency.

6.2  Entry Fee

       There is no entry fee.

6.3  Damage deposit

    (a)  An initial damage deposit of SFr. 1000.00 shall be paid at registration, unless

          extended by the OA. This deposit is the maximum payable by the skipper as a

          result of any one incident.

    (b)  In the event of a deduction from the damage deposit is decided by the OA it

          may require that the deposit be restored to its original amount before the skipper

          will be permitted to continue in the event.

    (c)  Any remaining deposit after the event will be refunded within 10 days after the

          event.

 

7 RULES

7.1

       (a)  The event will be governed by the rules as defined in the RRS, including

              Appendix C.

       (b)  The rules for the handling of boats will apply, and will also apply to any practice

              sailing and sponsor races. Class rules will not apply.

       (c)  The national authority prescriptions will not apply.

 

7.2       Major Alterations to the RRS

Any rules or major changes intended to the RRS

 

7.3     An International Jury (IJ) will be appointed in accordance with RRS Appendix N.

8 BOATS AND SAILS

    (a)  The event will be sailed on BLU26 type boats.

 (b)  6 boats will be provided.

 (c)  The following sails will be provided for each boat:

       Mainsail, Jib, Genoa, Spinnaker.

       (d)  Boats will be allocated by draw, either daily or for each round as decided by the

             Race Committee.

 

 

9 CREW (INCLUDING SKIPPER)

 (a)  The number of crew (including the skipper) shall be 4. All registered crew shall

        sail all races.

 (b)  The maximum total crew weight, determined prior to racing shall be 350 kg when

        wearing at least shorts and shirts.

       (c)  When a registered skipper is unable to continue in the event OA may authorise

             an original crew member to substitute.

 

       (d)  When a registered crew member is unable to continue in the event OA may

             authorise a substitute, a temporary substitute or other adjustment.

 

 

10 EVENT FORMAT

     (a)  The event will consist of the following stages:

           Stage 1 – A Single Round Robin

           Stage 2 – Shortened Quarter Finals with 6 teams (Winner of Round Robin goes

           direct to Semi Final)

           Stage 3 – Semi Final

              Stage 4 – Petit Final

           Stage 5 – Final

        (b)  The OA may change the format, terminate or eliminate any round, when

              conditions do not permit the completion of the intended format.

 

11 COURSE

        (a)  The course will be windward/leeward with starboard roundings, finishing

              downwind.

     (b)  The intended course area will be in front of the club house of the SCStM.

 

12 ADVERTISING

        (a)  As boats and equipment will be supplied by the Organising Authority, ISAF

              Regulation 20.3.2 applies. Each boat will be required to display advertising as

              supplied by the OA.

        (b)  Boats shall not be permitted the right to protest for breaches of any rules

              regarding advertising (amends RRS 60.1).

 

13 PRIZES

        (a)  The total prize money will be SFr. 150’000.

        (b)  First prize               SFr.    36’000

              Second prize           SFr.    25’000

              Third prize              SFr.    20’000

              Fourth prize            SFr.    16’000

              Fifth prize               SFr.    13’000

              Sixth prize              SFr.    11’000

              Seventh prize         SFr.      9’000

              Eighth prize            SFr.      6’000

              Ninth prize              SFr.     5’000

              Tenth prize             SFr.     4’000

              Eleventh prize         SFr.     3’000

              Twelfth prize           SFr.     2’000  

       (c)  These amounts are the gross amounts, 12.8% to 19% will have to be deducted

             for the Swiss Tax Government for competitors with no residency in Switzerland

             only.

       (d)  The OA may reduce a prize in the case of misconduct or refusal to comply with

              any reasonable request, including attendance at official functions.

 

14 MEDIA, IMAGES AND SOUND

The OA may require television personnel and equipment (or dummies) to be carried on board while racing and may require competitors to be available for interviews. The OA and the Tour shall have the right to use any images and sound recorded during the event free of any charge.

18 INVITATIONS

Entries will only be accepted from invited skippers. If you wish to be invited please register your request for an invitation as soon as possible with the OA by completing the attached form.
